Meet the Innkeepers

Blessed with Passion

Pam and Garret Terpstra moved to the city of Hartford in 1985, to raise their three sons. They purchased a 1913, three-bedroom home and spent the next 20 years restoring it.

As a young family, they became very active in the community. Pam was the founder of The Sycamore Tree Christian Childcare Center in their church and was the director for almost 10 years. She had spent the next 7 years as a nanny and part-time innkeeper for a year. As of August 2008, her new full-time position has been managing the bed and breakfast. She has also become the master gardener.

Garret has worked in the manufacturing field as a toolmaker, as a sales engineer, project manager, and is currently working for a Hartford plastic injection mold company. In his free time, he also manages the Inn and is the grounds keeper.

They enjoyed restoring their home and bargain hunting for antiques. Their love for antiques and family heirlooms together created a very comfortable home. As the years passed, so did the desire to purchase an old English Tudor Mansion, located just 5 blocks away.

In September 2005, they moved in and their dream began to unfold. The restoration began, and with their 20 years of experience in home remodeling, they felt confident that they had the skills to complete their dream. Garret acted as the general contractor and Pam was the project designer. They organized a team of highly qualified craftsmen to complete the project in 8 months. The community was supportive and pleased to see the remarkable "rebirth" of the stately 1913 mansion.

Pam and Garret's passion to preserve the original character, architecture and rich history can be felt throughout the mansion. An Old World ambiance and grandeur were preserved as well. Special attention to detail, comfort and luxurious amenities are what guests can experience while staying at the Inn.

Pam and Garret's love for cooking and entertaining can be sampled, every morning with a delicious homemade four-course breakfast and warm baked cookies, offered before bedtime. Heirloom china, linens and crystal are used to create a romantic and elegant experience.

A complimentary Wine and Cheese Reception is offered every afternoon. They look forward to providing a unique guest experience, comfortable guest suites, restful solitude and to help guests rekindle, relax and rejuvenate from the daily distractions of life!

The Westphal Mansion Inn Bed and Breakfast is now a Local Historical Landmark that the Hartford community can once again be proud to share!

In Loving Memory of Duke

"Duke was protector, greeter and comfort giver. He added to the love felt when you walked in the door!"
